Sandro Sartor, President and CEO of Ruffino, has been appointed vice president of UIV
Green transition, sustainability and promoting a culture of responsible drinking: Ruffino is ready to make its contribution within the top trade association.
Pontassieve, May 10th 2022 – Sandro Sartor, President and CEO Ruffino, was appointed vice president of Unione Italiana Vini (UIV) at the latest general assembly held in Rome, which decided the new nationwide board members and the management of the most important wine trade association in Italy. “This appointment fills me with pride; I’m very honored to become the vice president of UIV,” said Sartor. “I’ll have the opportunity to work with people I’ve known for years and for whom I have the utmost respect, such as the new president Lamberto Frescobaldi and Chiara Lungarotti, who will share the role of vice president. Challenging years lie ahead, linked with the green transition that the entire agrofood sector will have to face. The European directives associated with the “Farm to Fork” strategy show a way that is ripe with possibility, innovation and wellbeing, while also being lined with risks and difficulties, which, as a sector, we must succeed in turning into opportunities for development and businesses.”
Sandro Sartor’s appointment runs alongside another international role as President of Wine in Moderation (WIM), a European association based in Brussels that promotes a culture of responsible and informed drinking and sets out a continued mindset between Ruffino and the institutional missions within a European context, which will ambitiously and determinedly advance a united plan aimed at preserving and incentivizing wine culture.
“On issues of alcohol and health, the entire sector must show itself to be responsible and sensitive, without having to feel the need to respond to mere ideological attachments,” concludes Sartor. “UIV pursues values and activities that are also important for and dear to Ruffino, nationally and internationally, connected to health, sustainability and the promotion of wine culture, which are at the core of our ‘Ruffino Cares’ project and are shared every year in our Sustainability Report. We are therefore certain that we can make an important contribution within the association.”
