THE SAKURA COLLECTION || FINE & RARE WINES & SPIRITS REALIZES OVER HIGH ESTIMATE AT HK$85.69M / US$11.06M AND 99% SOLD

Hong Kong, 5 June 2018 – This highly-anticipated two-day auction realized HK$85,694,346/ US$11,057,335 featuring The Sakura Collection, one of the greatest single-owner cellars to hit the auction block in 2018 as well as our Fine and Rare Wines & Spirits featuring An Offering Direct from the Antinori Family Cellars and the Private Library of Domaine de la Pousse d’Or.

Regional and international absentee bids were at an all-time high, as were telephone and internet bids. Many international fine wine collectors flew in to Hong Kong to bid aggressively in the packed room in Cuisine Cuisine in the hopes of winning some gems from The Sakura Collection.

New record prices for Burgundy, Bordeaux and Italian wines were set, particularly DRC, Henri Jayer, Leroy, d’Auvenay, Roumier, Petrus and blue-chip Bordeaux.

WORLD RECORDS for six very rare magnums of DRC Assortment Case 2005 (1.5L) realized HK$1.05M (US$134,903), exceeding its pre-sale high estimate and three magnums of Henri Jayer Vosne Romanée Cros Parantoux 1996 (1.5L) exceeded its pre-sale high estimate, realizing at HK$799,500 (US$103,161). 6-pack OWC of DRC Romanée-Conti 2002 (750ML) realized HK$861,000 (US$111,097), exceeding its pre-sale high estimate. Cult Italian wine Masseto saw very aggressive bidding and most lots, particularly magnums and double magnums hammered at or very near their pre-sale high estimates.
