Visiting Champagne Taittinger: A Journey Through History and BubblesMy recent press trip to Reims, France, gave me a priviliged look into the legendary world of Champagne Taittinger. As Publisher of Connoisseur Magazine UK I’ve experienced many fine offerings, but this was truly special. The visit was more than a tasting; it was a journey back through the centuries, exploring the historic Saint-Nicaise site and its four kilometers of UNESCO-listed cellars—ancient chalk quarries that perfectly age their exquisite wines. Taittinger remains one of the few family-owned Champagne houses, and their unwavering dedication to quality, particularly their signature Chardonnay-focused style, is evident in every detail. From their extensive 288 hectares of vineyards to the family’s philosophy—"In order to obtain gold in our bottles, we first need to have it in our hands"—the entire experience was a masterclass in tradition and craftsmanship. The highlight was an exclusive dégustation, culminating in the Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs—a true masterpiece only produced in exceptional years and a champagne I now believe belongs on the dinner table, not just as an aperitif. The house is also embracing innovation with the stunning new Polychrome restaurant, offering a monochromatic, art-focused culinary experience paired beautifully with their champagnes. A visit to Taittinger is a profound encounter with history, elegance, and the timeless artistry of one of the world's most revered Maisons. If you're ever in Reims, their unique 'Instant' tours are highly recommended for a truly unforgettable immersion into the 'Art de Vivre.' ... See MoreSee Less

Jumped on a plane after the Bourgogne Tasting in Sydney and arrived in a Hot and Sunny Singapore for the Vinexpo Asia Wine exhibition being held at Marina Bay Sands. Its hard to beat Singapore for another exciting edition of this premier wine and spirits trade event! Positioned at the crossroads of Asia’s booming markets, this event will connect over 11,000 visitors and 1000 exhibitors from over 30 countries. Attendees are unlocking Asia’s wine and spirits future: Vinexpo Asia 2025 in Singapore is where markets converge, deals happen, and trends are set!I must confess the wines on show here are pretty amazing,..and of course I was focussed on the premium stuff ,.. with many of the World’s leading producers in attendance and I attach some images of our colleagues showcasing their wines! Had the privilege of meeting Chris Yorke the MD Of Austrian Wine Marketing Board and tasting some fabulous Gruner Veltliner with a guided tasting .Today I will be attending the famous Chateau Pavie stand which has a commerative bottle (pictured) to celebrate an anniversary and its rapid justifiable ascendancy in the Saint Emilion classification !Also tasted some fabulous Chateauneuf du Pape wines from the winery Famille Isabel Ferrando which is run by a mother and daughter combination and the wines were exquisite! It was refreshing to meet Guillamette showcasing her families wines and using her extensive education and professional knowledge and experience to be an advocate for her region and wines. This speaks highly of the future for smaller Boutique winemakers! ... See MoreSee Less
