GENEVA – Christie’s will present three sales as part of Geneva Luxury Week offering collectors the opportunity to acquire the finest wines and spirits. Highlighting the week will be the live auction of outstanding bottles direct from the cellar from Domaine Ponsot, in celebration of their 150 year anniversary.
Two online sales will complete this trio of sales – Fine and Rare Wines Online: Geneva Edition, which will be open for bidding from 2 to 16 November, presenting superb single owner collections of Bordeaux and Burgundy, alongside a selection of bottles to benefit One Drop Foundation, which provides access to water, sanitation and hygiene to those in need; and The Fine and Rare Spirits online auction, open for bidding from 3 to 17 November, will offer a selection of the most sought-after whiskies, led by a rare bottle of The Yamazaki 55 Year Old.
Domaine Ponsot – The 150 Year Jubilee Celebration, Finest & Rarest Wines Direct from the Cellar | 8 November Christie’s presents Domaine Ponsot – The 150 Year Jubilee Celebration, Finest & Rarest Wines direct from the cellar sale with a live auction on 8 November.
Comprising 261 lots, with an estimated total value of CHF800,000, the auction will present the finest bottles directly from the estates cellar, never before offered..The celebrated collection will be highlighted by a Domaine Ponsot Clos de la Roche Cuvée Hippolyte barrel, 2022 (estimate: CHF 80,000-100,000) with proceeds to benefit charity, and made from old vines selected from the original vineyard. Geneva Edition | 2 to 16 November Fine and Rare Wines Online: Geneva Edition, will be open for bidding from 2 to 16 November. The sale begins with a selection of lots raising money for One Drop Foundation. One Drop is a charity, founded 15 years ago by Guy Laliberté, Founder of Cirque du Soleil and Lune Rouge, which aims to give access to water, sanitation and hygiene to those in need.
An Olivier Krug signed Jeroboam of Krug Rosé, a Guigal assortment, imperials of Château Pichon Lalande, Château Rauzan-Segla and Château Canon feature, alongside a magnum of Bonneau du Martray, Corton-Charlemagne and a double magnum of Chapoutier’s famous L’Ermite will be offered. Further highlights of the sale include special single owner collections of Bordeaux and Burgundy. A rare vertical offering of Château Cheval-Blanc features, dating back to the monumental 1982 vintage. Petrus is also presented in six-bottle cases from signature vintages such as 1995, 1999 and 2002. Classic vintages of the Left Bank First and Second Growths are offered, with 2000, 2009 and 2010 Château Mouton-Rothschild.
Burgundy is highlighted with many beautiful cellars of top Domaine and Grand Crus. Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Assortment cases from sensational years, such as 2005 and 1996 appear in this sale. Further lots from DRC are bottles of La Tâche 1993, Richebourg 2013, Montrachet 1993 and Romanée-Conti itself, from 1998 and 1999. A fabulous selection of Domaine Coche-Dury will appeal to collectors, Corton-Charlemagne, Meursault Les Perrières and Meursault Les Rougeot are notable highlights. Domaine Leroy and Domaine d’Auvenay are signature highlights of the sale, with 2013 Clos Vougeot from Leroy and 2009 Bonnes Mares from d’Auvenay noted as beautiful lots. Château Rayas, rarities from Penfolds, vintages of Sassicaia, Bollinger RD, Dalla Valle, Sine Qua Non and Domaine de Trevallon feature in a roll call of fine wines from across the world.
Geneva Edition | 3 to 17 November
The Geneva Spirits online auction, open for bidding from 3 to 17 November, presents a selection of rare and treasured bottles. An incredible bottle of The Yamazaki 55 Year Old will be offered in its Mizunara box with echizen washi paper decoration. In 1960 and 1964, American White Oak and Mizunara (local Japanese wood) casks were laid to rest at Yamazaki, these casks contained the liquid that is now known as The Yamazaki 55 Year Old.
Released in 2020 by Chief Blender Shinji Fukuyo, descendent of Torii Shinjirō, the whisky is a powerful dram. A private collection of Japanese whiskies will also be presented, including Karuizawa, with vintages ranging between 1980 and 2000. The Geisha, Samurai and Noh series all appear. The most collectable bottles are the La Maison du Whisky bottlings. Ichiro’s Malt is offered, alongside other family member’s distilleries, Chichibu and Hanyu. The Chichibu 2012 7 Year Old Darumas is an über sought-after bottle of Japanese whisky. A selection of Scotch will also feature in the auction, with Glenfiddich, Highland Park, Arran, Glenmorangie, Laphroaig and Springbank.
