I wanted to put on your radar two wine sales in France that have opened for bidding – a private collection of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, and a selection of wines sourced from private cellars across Continental Europe. Together, the 654 lots carry a combined pre-sale estimate in the region of €3 million. Both sales culminate in a live auction on 29 and 30 June, respectively.

Monumental DRC I From Bottles to Methuselahs I Exceptional Provenance comprises an outstanding private collection of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, the most prestigious and sought-after Domaine in Burgundy. All the wines were purchased on release, directly at the Domaine and have been stored undisturbed within a temperature-controlled warehouse on the Continent. The sale features rare and sought-after cases in a variety of bottle formats, including magnums, jeroboams and rare methuselahs. The selection of wines on offer are part of a much larger collection assembled by a passionate wine lover with a focus on quality and provenance.

Fine & Rare Wines | Bordeaux, Burgundy and Beyond gathers together wines sourced from several private European cellars, all of them united by excellent provenance and state-of-the-art storage conditions.

The selection of Burgundy is highlighted by the finest Pinot Noir from top class Domaines, including Leroy, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and Domaine des Lambrays, to name a few. Traveling south, the great Whites are the undisputed stars with parcels of Leflaive, the historical Bâtard-Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet. Beyond Burgundy, the sale features rarities from the Southern Rhône valley, such as Château Rayas 2009 and Château de Fonsalette 1999.

The range of Bordeaux is distinguished by a rich selection of the First Growths, with vintages spanning more than a century from acclaimed châteaux on both the Right and Left banks, including rare magnums of Château Mouton d’Armailhacq 1916, Château Latour 1952, Château Margaux 1959, Yquem 1967 and rarely seen Petrus 1959. Iconic vintages from the 1980s and the 1990s include Petrus 1982, Château Margaux 1990 and Château Lafite Rothschild 2000.

Beyond France, there are rare gems from Italy, represented by Masseto 1998, Sassicaia 2006, and Ornellaia 2006 in both magnums and jeroboams.
