LONDON – Christie’s auction, The Treasury: Finest Wines from a Peerless Collection on 29 September 2022 realised a total of £3,596,050 / $3,869,350 / €4,002,404, achieving sell-through rates of 90% by lot and 97% by value. The cellar, which had been collected by a passionate wine connoisseur over many years, attracted competitive bidding, while 38% of new registrants to the sale were millennial collectors.
Offering the most sought-after domaines, Burgundy led the collection. The top lots of the auction included 12 bottles of Domaine Leroy, Richebourg 2009, which realised £100,000 / $107,600 / €111,300, alongside 12 bottles of Domaine Leroy, Vosne-Romanée Les Beaux Monts 2015, which achieved £75,000 / $80,700 / €83,475. Further highlighting the burgundy offering were 11 bottles of Comte Georges de Vogüé, Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1961, which sold for £65,000 / $69,940 / €72,345 and 12 bottles of Comte Georges de Vogüé, Bonnes Mares 1971, which realised £50,000 / $53,800 / €55,650.
