MARINA PORT VALENCIA WELCOMES TRAINING SHIP

Valencia, 28 August 2025.

Brazilian Navy ship Brasil (U-27) calls at Marina Port Valencia as part of international training voyage.

Her visit to Valencia on her 39th Naval Official Training Voyage, in addition to being part of her Naval Official Training Programme, was a break for the crew and a stopover to strengthen ties with friendly nations such as Spain.

The Brazilian Navy’s training ship Brasil is berthed at Marina Port Valencia from 26 to 30 August, as part of her 39th Naval Official Training Voyage.

This ship was built at the Rio de Janeiro Navy Arsenal and joined the armed forces in 1986. She has since trained generations of officers and is seen as a symbol of national pride.

Her visit to Valencia is part of an itinerary within the Naval Official Training Programme, coming as a chance to enjoy a technical stop, give the crew some free time, and strengthen ties with friendly nations such as Spain.

During the voyage, the budding naval officers are taught about navigation, meteorology, naval operations, damage control and administration, in addition to fully adapting to life at sea.

The frigate’s journey started on 2 August in Brazil with an itinerary that will take her to a total of seventeen ports in thirteen countries, including Marina Port Valencia in Spain, and then to France and Italy, among others. In total, she will be spending four months and twenty days at sea, with her return home scheduled for 21 December in Rio de Janeiro.

After her time in the Mediterranean, the ship will cross the Atlantic to the United States, where she will also call at several ports. From there, she will continue her journey to South America to culminate in Colombia, before heading back to Rio de Janeiro, where she will arrive on 21 December.

Onboard are 388 crewmembers, including 31 officers, 217 seamen and 140 naval officers in training, which reflects the importance of this voyage also as part of an academic and cultural exchange process.

Brasil U-27 will be opening up to the public in Valencia on 28 and 29 August from 1.00 pm to 6.00 pm, which will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get to know this frigate up close, walk around her exterior and interior spaces, and enjoy an insight into the naval world through an experience that combines tradition, training and maritime diplomacy.
