Astrid graduated from the University of Brussels with a master degree in History of Art and Archaeology. She has published numerous essays on Elisabeth Vigée-Lebrun as well as on French female artists who worked under the Ancient Régime.Paris

Christie’s is pleased to announce that Astrid Centner has joined Christie’s as Head of Department for Old Master & 19th Century Paintings in Paris.

Over the past 12 years, Astrid gained knowledge and expertise in the field of Old Master Paintings, including her 9 year-long career at another international auction house in Paris, London and Brussels. She specialised in Flemish 17thcentury painting, and in 2011 she rediscovered an unpublished painting by Sir Anthony van Dyck.

Astrid will reinforce Christie’s Old Master & 19th Century department and will work closely with Pierre Etienne, International Director, and Bérénice Verdier, Cataloguer for the Paris sales. The department has just recently set a new world auction record for Bernadino Luini with Figure de Sainte which sold for €1,2 million.
