For the First Time Ever at Auction Finest and Rarest Wines:

Direct from Great Estates*

*Report filed by Connoisseur Magazine’s Publishing Editor Axel Ritenis “on the ground” in Hong Kong and attending the auction this evening,..

Hong Kong – To celebrate Christie’s 250th anniversary globally and 30th anniversary in Asia, a visionary sale will be held for the first time, honoring a select group of some of the world’s most celebrated wine producers. As the first ever auction house to introduce such a sale, Christie’s introduces the “Direct from Great Estates Sale” on 27 May and will feature wines from the cellars of 84 of the world’s most illustrious producers with several unique lots being released exclusively by fantastic estates such as Domaine de laRomanée-Conti, Château Latour, Château Margaux and Château Lafite Rothschild among many others.

This sale held in collaboration between Christie’s and the Great Estates will offer buyers rare vinous treasures and many will also offer privileged opportunities, such as private tastings cellar tours with the estate’s family members or winemakers, gourmet lunches and dinners paired with the Estates’ fine wines, and overnight stays at the Estate.
Simon Tam, Head of Wine Asia, commented:

“Following the tragic Paris terrorist attacks of November 2015, Christie’s and the Great Estates have come together in a bid to raise funds in benefit of the French Red Cross. We are delighted to be presenting this one of a kind, legendary sale to collectors and connoisseurs around the world, who seek the finest and rarest wines and once in a lifetime unique experiences, all for a good cause.”

Lot Highlights

5054

Lot 5054
An exceptional lot not to be missed is from Château Mouton Rothschild. Château Mouton Rothschild is offering a lot of three magnums in their original wooden cases from 1989, 1999 and 2009 (estimate HK$160,000 – 300,000). These vintages are the perfect illustration of Château Mouton Rothschild’s evolution in excellence and unique character over the past three decades.
The lot also presents the wonderful opportunity to visit the Château where a private lunch will be held, in addition to joining a wine tasting event with a member of Château Mouton Rothschild’s technical team.
